In Harbissons' passport photograph he is wearing his eyeborg, it seemed to be recognition for him being a "cyborg", however he did have some trouble achieving this, he had to get family and friends to write letters of persuasion. The eyeborg itself converts colours in front of Harbisson into sound waves, he had memorise different frequencies to match different colours. Harbisson uses the term sonochromatism to define his new condition.
In 2010 Neil Harbisson founded the cyborg foundation, an international organisation to help humans become cyborgs. The foundations main aims are to enhance human senses and abilities by forming cyber extensions to the body, to promote cybernetics in cultural events and to defend the rights of cyborgs. They are currently running projects such as eyeborgs ( helping humans to perceive light, colour and shapes through sound), earborgs (allowing people to perceive sound via shapes, colour and light), noseborgs ( allowing humans to perceive smell through electromagnetic signals) and fingerborgs (allowing humans to take pictures through hands).
He uses colour and the use of technology as the extension of the performers body as a main theme in his work. Below are a couple of examples of Harbissons photography. Again some adopting the idea of cyborgs.
